Arguably the greatest team in Madonna history, the 2002 Crusaders advanced to the program's first NAIA Final Four.
Led by Hall of Fame coach Jerry Abraham, Madonna swept the WHAC regular-season with a perfect 12-0 record and captured the WHAC tournament title to advance to the program's fifth NAIA National Tournament. The narrowly fell in five sets to Houston Baptist in the Final Four.
Led by NAIA First Team All-American and WHAC Player of the Year, Shelly Stanton, the Crusaders ended the season 48-4, the second most wins in program history. Setter Natalie Sayre was honored as Third Team All-American, NAIA All-Region and All-WHAC while Tera Morill was also named NAIA All-Region and All-WHAC First Team. Laura Lesko and Amanda Suder were each named All-WHAC First Team and Natalja Tinina was honored as WHAC Freshman of the Year.
