LIVONIA, Mich. –Madonna University head Men's and Women's bowling coach
George Bell is announcing his retirement following the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season, concluding a notable eight-season tenure in Livonia. Bell departs building the program from his start in 2018, taking 6th in the WHAC tournament for the Women before taking them as the NAIA National Runner Up in 2023.
Bell joined Madonna ahead of the 2018 season, bringing with him more than three decades of coaching experience from being the Executive Director of the Western Wayne Youth Traveling Classic, Quadrant Director "A" for the Michigan State USBC Youth Bowling Association and a USBC Certified Lane Inspector.Prior to that, Bell was an assistant coach at John Glen High School from 2013-17, was a member of the Western Wayne County USBC board from 2006-13.
During his time with the Crusaders, Bell compiled a women's WHAC tournament championship in 2020, and a NAIA National Runner Up in 2023. For the Men, George had two All-Americans with Noah Campbell in 2022 and Ken Kloth Jr. in 2024.
Bell also emphasized academic and individual development. His tenure produced 11 WHAC All-Conference selections, 53 WHAC All-Academic honorees, and 25 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
"We are extremely grateful for all the contributions Coach Bell made to Madonna and the men's and women's bowling programs," said Director of Athletics Noel Emenhiser. "He did so much behind the scenes that often went unnoticed by the public and was able to build a successful program. During his time here, he made a lasting impact, bringing the program their first National Runner Up. We wish George all the best in this next chapter of his life."
Bell's retirement closes a chapter defined by competitive success and program stability. Moving forward, Madonna University will conduct a national search for the program's next leader.
