LIVONIA, Mich. – Madonna University has officially appointed Joe Wrone as the new Head Men's and Women's Bowling Coach, effective May 4th, 2026. Wrone brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Head Boys and Girls Bowling Head Coach at Summit Academy for the past 12 years.

"Coach Wrone brings a wealth of experience and a new perspective to our bowling program, having led his high school program to multiple state finals appearances," said Madonna Director of Athletics Noel Emenhiser. "He's demonstrated not only the ability to produce competitive success, but also to develop leadership and support education. Coach Wrone aligns strongly with Madonna University's mission to deliver an outstanding student experience while striving for competitive excellence. We couldn't be more thrilled to have him lead us into this new chapter of Madonna Athletics."

In his previous role at Summit academy Wrone has led five teams to the State Finals and coached eight individual bowlers who qualified for the state tournament through the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). His team earned the MHSAA State Runner-up finish this past season and also won the Bowl for Burns High School Tournament Championship the same year. Summit has also finished as Regional Champions in 2022 and Regional Runner-ups in 2023 and 2026. His program has also captured six league championships, most recently in 2026, and currently holds the highest winning percentage of all sports at Summit Academy.

Outside of bowling, Wrone is also a teacher at North Elementary with Summit Academy as a 4th grade teacher displaying his importance to education and developing students.

"I'm incredibly excited to join Madonna University and lead the bowling program," said Coach Wrone. "I'm honored to be a part of a collegiate community that values excellence both academically and competitively. I'm really looking forward to building relationships with our student-athletes and helping them grow competitively, academically, and personally. There's a strong foundation at Madonna and I'm eager to build on that tradition while pushing the program to new heights. Becoming part of the Crusader family means a lot to me, as the University's values closely match my own, and I'm excited to represent Madonna with pride, passion, and a commitment for success."
