Madonna University athletics is proud to announce the establishment of the Patrick Moore Memorial Fund which will enable donors a chance to direct their money specifically for use on capital projects within the athletics department beginning with the newly announced Patrick Moore Memorial Press Box.
Moore was a treasured member of the Madonna family. His dedication and love for Crusaders Athletics were unmatched. While earning his degree in journalism and public relations, Moore spent three years working in the sports information office at Madonna. He graduated in 2003, and returned to his alma mater four years later to direct communications for the Crusaders teams. He managed game-day operations, found scorekeepers and printed programs. He interviewed coaches and players, kept detailed statistics and biographies. He tirelessly updated the Crusaders' website and had his finger on the pulse of every sports team, both Madonna's and the opposition's.
Moore also played a key role in athletic communications for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference along with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). He blossomed into one of the best sports information professionals in the country and he had the awards to prove it. He was a three-time Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference SID of the Year. His publications were rated in the top 10 in the U.S. no fewer than 26 times. His volleyball press guides ranked tops in the U.S. on four occasions.
The press box will be erected at the Madonna Athletic Complex soccer/lacrosse field at the corner of Newburgh and 5 Mile Roads. To honor Moore and his legacy, the Press Box will be everything he would have wanted, so that current and future sports information directors can efficiently do their job. In addition to private donations, the building will be funded with proceeds from the Patrick Moore Memorial Golf Outing with information below.
Donations for the press box will be accepted via the giving form
