Crusaders compete at Grand Valley

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Madonna University track and field team sent athletes to the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open on Friday night. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The men's 4x400-meter relay team broke the school record with a time of 3:15.17. The team consisting of Emanual Rogers, Marion Johnson, DeVeyon Blacknell, and Amarion Howard also hit the NAIA A Standard with their performance. Individually, Mehdi Hamoud finished 6th in the 3000-meter race with a time of 8:31.03, while Cobey Hall ran the 200-meter dash and crossed the line in 22.47 seconds.  

On the women's side, the team of Charity Jones, Nia Wood, Lauren Hamilton, and Jessica Phillips hit the NAIA A Standard with their third place finishing time of 3:53.29. Ny'tierra Hobbs finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with an NAIA A Standard time of 24.77 seconds. 

UP NEXT:

The Crusaders will be back in action following the holiday break when they split the squad for meets at the University of Michigan and Saginaw Valley State University. SVSU will hold their meet on January 12th, while the Wolverines will host their meet on January 13th.
