Crusaders Roll Past Opponents at American Heartland

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Madonna University Men's and Women's bowling team continued their 2021-22 season campaign as they traveled to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the fifth American Heartland match where both teams came in first place.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the women's division, there were eleven teams and the Crusaders' came in first place and had a total of 6871 pins. Four of the starting bowlers finished within the top 12, starting with Nicole Norris who dominated the field. Norris was the top bowler and finished with 938 pins, which was 121 pins more than second place and had an average of 234.5 pins. 

Emily Gurin had a good day as well as she finished in fourth place for the Crusaders. Gurin finished the day with 802 total pins, with an average of 200.5, her best score of the day came in her third match when she knocked down 231 pins. Halie Hale was right behind Gruin in fifth place with 785 total pins and an average of 196.25 pins. Kayla Thompson would finish in twelfth  place with 728 total pins with an average of 182. 

On the men's side, the Crusaders also finished first out of 17 teams with 7363 total pins and all five of the starters finished in the top 17 bowlers. 

Ken Kloth was the top bowler for Madonna who finished in sixth place with 865 pins. Kloth's average was 216.25 pins and his best match was his third when he bowled a 235. Noah Campbell finished in ninth place with 853 pins and an average of  213.25 as well. Aric Kurash was in thirteenth with 845 pins and an average of 211.25. Brandon Campbell and Anthony Thibodeaux finished in fifteenth and seventeenth respectively with 834 and 828 total pins. 

UP NEXT

The Crusaders will be on the road as they travel to Adrian, Mich. to play in the fourth WHAC Jamboree next Saturday, February 5.
