Women Third, Men Fourth at The Fortress

FRANKENMUTH, Mich.-- The Madonna University Men's and Women's Golf teams teed off at the Lawrence Technological University Invite at The Fortress this past Tuesday and Wednesday with fourth and third-place performances.

Kristen Szabelski finished tied for 7th overall with a +25 over 72 par on the 5908 yard course for a two day total of 169 (87-82). Following her was Kayla Gerhardt who placed 11th with 174 (85-89). McKenzie Chaisson and Gabriella Scopone tied for 13th with scores of 181 (93-88) and 181 (89-92). Rounding out the meet for Madonna was Hannah Brown in 17th with 200 (92-108). 

A third-place finish for the Crusaders in their second event of the season, they had a team score of 704 (353-351) over the two day event. University of Northwestern Ohio won the women's meet with a score of 654 (320-334) while LTU was second with 681 (343-338), respectively.

For the men, Harrison Bowman carded a 153 (71-82) over the two day tournament to lead the Crusaders going +9 over 72 par to tie for 6th place. Following him was Andrew Volk tying for 10th with a 157 (76-81) ahead of John Doyle who placed 15th with a score of 165 (78-87). Finishing off the Crusaders lineup was Gabe Martin, Matt Barno, Alex stojcevski, and Ryan Langan who had scores of 168 (85,83), 170 (87, 83), 172 (86,86) and 175 (90,85), respectively. 

The Crusaders finished 4th out of 5 teams in the event scoring 639 (310-329). LTU won the meet with a team score of 599 (286-313). 

UP NEXT

The men and women will be competing on Tuesday, September 21 and Wednesday, September 22 at the Timber Ridge Championship Golf Course for the Bill Bockwitz Classic hosted by Spring Arbor (Mich.).
