Crusaders struggle in second jamboree

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich.-- The Madonna University men's and women's bowling teams returned to action on Saturday for the second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Jamboree with pod A hosted by Lawrence Technological University at 5 Star Lanes. The women finished seventh with 4,227 total pins while the men placed ninth with 4,511.

The women opened the event with 2,536 pins (843-813-880) over the first three team games before adding 1,691 pins (885-806) in the 10 baker games with a high of 221 in the first set of bakers and a high of 195 in set two. Emily Gurin was the top finisher for MU with 597 total pins and a high game of 235 to place ninth while Ashley Everett placed 12th with 583 total pins and a high game of 205.

On the men's side, the Crusaders bowled well in the first two games with pinfalls of 912 and 939 before posting an 889 in game three. They added just two 200+ games in the bakers with a high in the first set of 214 and a high of 223 in set two. They tallied 878 pins in set one and 893 in set two. Noah Campbell led the team with 610 total pins and a high game of 226 to finish 16th while Cole Ordiway placed 21st with 567 pins and a high game of 200.

Lawrence Tech won both the men's and women's events with scores of 5,569 and 5,202, respectively. The Blue Devils also had the top two individual finishers as Victoria Giardina won the women's title with 715 total pins and Michael Weber won the men's event with 775 total pins.

Madonna returns to action next week as they compete in the third WHAC Jamboree host by Cleary University at Royal Scot Golf & Bowl in Jackson, Michigan.
