@MUCRUSADERSWLAX SHOWS PROMISING START IN LOSS TO SAINTS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A pair of early goals had the Madonna University women's lacrosse team even with Aquinas College, but it wasn't enough in a 22-5 loss at Aquinas College Athletic Field on Saturday night.

The Saints (5-7, 4-6 WHAC) started the game with two quick goals, but Briana Warner(FR/Comstock Park, Mich.) and Jordyn Shepler (SR/Livonia, Mich.) responded with back-to-back tallies to draw even at two with 18:22 left in the first half. Eleven unanswered goals by the home team made it 13-2 before Shepler netted her second goal of the contest.

Emily Johnson (SR/Grandville, Mich.) scored a goal and assisted on Sarah Carlson(SR/Woodhaven, Mich.)'s tally in the second half, but the Saints scored seven times in the final 30 minutes for the win.

The Crusaders (0-10, 0-8 WHAC) attempted 16 shots with nine on frame while also corralling 11 ground balls and causing five turnovers.

Shepler scored two goals on two shots while Johnson's lone goal came on five attempts. Carlson led the team with three groundballs and two caused turnovers to go with a goal on four shots while Warner scored her goal on just two shots.
