Crusaders Fall to No. 6 Indiana Tech on the Road

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Women's Lacrosse faced a tough test Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 6 Indiana Tech 21–2 at Warrior Athletic Field.

The Crusaders showed early fight, answering Indiana Tech's opening goal with a score from Emma Volpe to tie the game at 1–1 midway through the first quarter. However, the Warriors responded with a strong offensive push, closing the opening period on a 6–0 run to take a 7–1 lead.

Indiana Tech continued to control the pace in the second quarter, adding seven more goals. Madonna found the back of the net late in the half when Danielle Turner scored, but the Crusaders trailed 14–2 heading into halftime.

The second half saw Indiana Tech maintain control, adding five goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth to secure the victory.

Turner and Volpe each recorded a goal for Madonna, accounting for the Crusaders' scoring on the day. Despite limited offensive opportunities, Madonna continued to battle throughout the contest.

Defensively, goalkeeper Olivia Vitantonio turned in a strong performance under heavy pressure, recording 19 saves while facing 53 shots from the Indiana Tech attack.

Indiana Tech was led by Michelle Farrell with five goals, while Kylie King and Jessica Leigh each added three goals as the Warriors controlled possession throughout the game.

Madonna will look to regroup as it continues conference play following the matchup against another nationally ranked opponent.
