@MUCRUSADERSWLAX NETS GOAL IN FIFTH STRAIGHT GAME

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The first-year Madonna University women's lacrosse team netted a goal for the fifth straight game in a 22-1 loss to second-ranked Lawrence Technical University at LTU Athletic Field on Wednesday evening.

The Crusaders fall to 0-5 in their debut season and 0-3 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while the Blue Devils improve to 6-0 in 2017 and 3-0 in league play.

It was all LTU in the first half as the home team built a 19-goal lead in the opening 30 minutes. Sarah Carlson (SR/Romulus, Mich.) netted her third goal of the season with 11:15 to play to make it 20-1 before LTU added two more goals for the final margin.

Stephanie Mackley (SR/Livonia, Mich.), the Crusaders goalie, made 11 saves in facing 40 shots on the day. MU collected 14 groundballs, but 21 turnovers were their undoing.

Carlson's goal came on her only shot while Briana Warner (FR/Comstock Park, Mich.) corralled a team-high three groundballs.

Madonna returns to the Madonna Athletics Complex on Saturday, Mar. 25 as they host Aquinas College, who received votes in Tuesdays NAIA Coaches' Poll, with the opening draw at 1 p.m. Live coverage, including audio and video if weather permits, of the game will be available via the Madonna Athletics Network at madonnacrusaders.com/live.
