LIVONIA, Mich. – Madonna University Head Athletic Trainer, Peter Benjamin, is excited to announce the addition of Halie Monhollen as the newest Assistant Athletic Trainer to join the staff.
Monhollen comes to Madonna from Heidelberg University, where she is completing her Master of Athletic Training. During her time at Heidelberg, she accumulated over 1,000 clinical hours working with NCAA Division III programs in football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, track and field, and baseball. She also gained experience at Tiffin University with NCAA Division II wrestling, where she collaborated closely with athletic trainers and coaches on injury prevention, treatment, and safe return-to-play strategies.
"I'm excited to have Halie join the Madonna AT staff this year," Benjamin stated. "Her education and collegiate athletic experience at Heidelberg University should benefit our department and the student-athletes she will be working with. She has displayed positive body language, attitude, and character, which will help continue to build the culture in the athletic training room."
In addition to her clinical background, Monhollen has worked in physical therapy, served as a volunteer coach at Perrysburg High School, and contributed medical support at major events such as the Chicago Marathon and the Arnold Sports Festival. She has also been actively involved in professional organizations, serving as a student representative and fundraising chair for the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association (GLATA) and as a member of the Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association (OATA) and the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
Monhollen is certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED through the Red Cross and her research interests include athlete mental health, injury prevention, and the use of virtual reality in balance training.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Monhollen is eager to bring her passion for athlete care and sports medicine to the Crusaders.
