ALLEN PARK, Mich. - On Saturday, the Madonna University Crusaders Men's and Women's Bowling team traveled to the WHAC Jamboree #4 in Allen Park, Michigan hosted by Thunderbowl Lanes. The event featured 15 teams on the Men's side and 16 teams on the Women's side ranging from NCAA club teams to NAIA opponents. The men's team finished in 4th place while the women's team also finished in 8th place. On Sunday, the Men's and Women's team also traveled to Monroe, Michigan for the AHBA Championships hosted by the Monroe Sports Center. The Men would finish 5th overall while the Women finished in 4th.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the WHAC Jamboree Crusaders Men's Bowling team finished 4th with strong play across the board despite not having any top 25 finishers. The Crusaders were just 349 pins away first place. The Women's Bowling team also had solid performances with one finishing in the top 5. The Crusaders were 361 pins from 1st place and 42 pins away from 7th.
The Men's team saw three bowlers finish in the mid 40s out of 170 bowlers led by Haydn Debacker who had a strong game one and three finishing in 42nd individually with a total score of 582 in three games. Dylan Jablonski would follow closely behind in 45th place with 579 pins. Brandon Leavitt finished 49th overall with a total score of 575. Additionally, Keith McLeod. finished in 94th with a total pin count of 490. The Crusaders also had a top 5 finisher in Jonathon Michalski who finished 4th with 669 pins but is a part of the JV roster so it did not count towards the team score.
The Crusaders Women's Bowling team was led by Maya Janowicz who had one of her best performances of the season, finishing in 3rd place out of 134 bowlers with a total score of 590. Laila Lupercio also had a strong day finishing just outside the top 25 in 27th place with a final score of 531. Jillian Lipinski finished in 37th place with a final score of 501. Finally, Bayleigh Shimmell finished in 41st place with a final score of 494.
In the AHBA Championship the Men's team finished in 5th with two bowlers finishing in the top 25 while one of them finished in the top 5. The Crusaders were just 360 pins away from finishing first. The Women's team also saw strong performances with three athletes finishing in the top 25 and one finishing in the top 10.
The Men's Bowling team gained an outstanding individual performance from Dylan Jablonski who would finish 5th overall out of 79 bowlers with a final pin count of 462 in two games. Ken Kloth Jr. would finish in 14th with a total pin count of 432. Brandon Leavitt finished in 28th with a final pin count of 394. Haydn Debacker finished in 36th with a score of 373.
The Women's team had a top 10 finisher in Katherine Dybicki who finished 10th overall with a total pin count of 410. Bayleigh Shimmell had back to back strong days finishing in 16th with a final pin count of 379. Jillian Lipinski finished in 21st with a final pin count of 367. Maya Janowicz finished in 30th with a final score of 346. Lastly, Laila Lupercio finished in 41st with a final score of 314.

The Crusaders will be back in action on February 8th as they travel to Jackson, Michigan for the Scotty Classic. Action begins at 8:30 AM.
