JACKSON, MICH. -- On Saturday, the Madonna University Crusaders Men's and Women's Bowling team kicked off their season at the second annual Dirty Bird Classic at the Jax 60 in Jackson, Michigan. The event featured 3 team games and 10 baker games to determine bracket play. The bracket then would see the top two teams advance on a bye to the semifinal. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Crusaders Men's Bowling team qualified seventh after trailing by 443 pins and earned 11th-place points in the USBC power rankings. The Women's Bowling team qualified fifth in the team standings while only trailing by 307 pins and earned sixth in the USBC power rankings.
 
Keith McCloud finished 16th overall at the tournament after averaging 190.7 pins per game with a total score of 572. Dylan Jablonski and Brandon Leavitt both finished above the 500-pin mark as well. Jablonski finished 25th overall with an average pin count of 181.3 for a total score of 544. Leavitt finished 43rd overall with an average pin count of 167.7 for a total score of 503.Additionally, Ken Kloth Jr. finished 56th with a score of 476. Haydn Debacker bowled two games for a score of 315 and Timothy McGarry bowled one game for a score of 152.
 
The Crusaders Women's Bowling team had to bowlers finish in the top ten. Laila Lupercio finished seventh overall in the women's standings with a total score of 537 and an average pin count of 179. Maya Janowicz rounded out the top ten by achieving a score of 532 with an average pin count of 177.3. Jillian Lipinski finished 28th with a total score of 490 and Katherine Dybicki finished 30th with a score of 488. Lastly, Bayleigh Shimmell finished 39th with a score of 476.

The Crusaders will be back in action next Saturday at the first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match of the season, which will be held at the Jax 60 in Jackson, Mich. at 7:30 AM.
