Crusaders Shine at Doug Hansen Open and Wolverine Invitational

LIVONIA, Mich.--  The Madonna University Men's and Women's Track & Field team in action Friday at Saginaw Valley State University for the Doug Hansen Open and Saturday at the University of Michigan for the Wolverine Invite. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

On Friday at SVSU, Steven Anderson took first in the preliminaries for the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.15 seconds, which was good rough for A standard. In the men's shot put and weight throw, Alex Hunt and Logan West both hit PRs. Hunt in the shot put hit the 14.23m mark and in the weighted throw, threw it 15.01m. While West threw the shot put 12.67m and the weight throw 13.32m.

In the men's 200m dash, Ugochukwu Anidobu hit a PR with a time of  23.64 seconds. Lastly, Katherine Haupt ran a great season opener and took third place in the 800m with a time of 2:31.28 

On Saturday at the Wolverine Invitational, the Crusaders' competed against multiple NCAA Division one and two teams. In the men's 60m dash, DeVeyon Blacknell took home first place with a time of 6.80 seconds. In the men's 200m, Cortez Cunningham came in fourth place with a time of 21.94 seconds. Nia Wood also ran great Saturday, in the women's 200m she hit a PR with a time of 25.81 seconds.

UP NEXT

Both teams will compete next week Friday, January 28, and Saturday, January 29 for a two day meet at Saginaw Valley State University for the Jet's Pizza Invitational.
