Women's Indoor Track and Field Secures First WHAC Championship

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Madonna University Indoor Track and Field programs competed in the WHAC Indoor Track and Field Championships this past Saturday. The Women's Indoor Track and Field team secured the first ever WHAC Championship in program history!

 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

On Day One of running events, the Crusaders took home the top spot in the Women's 4 x 800m Relay with an "A" standard time of 9:24.40 minutes. Next, senior, Ny'tierra Hobbs finished first in the Women's 60 Meters with a time of 7.38 seconds. Madonna junior, Rose Paoletti, secured the second-place spot in the Women's 5000 Meters with a time of 18:20.19 minutes. Day 1 of running events for the men's side saw Deron Roberts take the first spot in the Men's 60 Meters with a time of 6.71 seconds and Aaron Kilbert taking third with a time of 6.89 seconds. Finally, Salah Ensaad secured first in the Men's 5000 Meters with a time of 15:02.98 minutes.
 
On Day One of field events, senior Princess Browne took home third in the Women's Long Jump with a distance of 5.59m. On the men's side, Darreus Reese finished second in the Men's Long Jump with a final distance of 7.22m. Men's Shot Put saw Gage Robinson secure third with 14.67m.
 
Moving onto Day Two of running events, Elizabeth Dancey placed second in the Women's One Mile Run with a time of 5:11.61 minutes. Madonna's Charity Jones and Kiara Carter finished in first and second place with Jones having a finish time of 56.97 seconds and Carter finishing with a time of 57.43 seconds. In the next event up, Lauren Hamilton took home first place in the Women's 600 Meters event with a time of 1:37.11 minutes. Hobbs continued her dominance in the Women's 60 Meters by taking first again on day two with a time of 7.38 seconds. The Women's 800 Meters event saw Madonna's Emonie Bonner finish second with a time of 2:21.06 minutes. Hamilton secured another podium finish by finishing third in the Women's 1000 Meters with a time of 3:08.59 minutes. The Crusaders swept the podium in the Women's 200 Meters with Hobbs finishing first, Jones in the second spot, and Carter rounding out third. The Women's 3000 Meters saw Paoletti take home second place with a time of 10:39.00 minutes. To round out day two of running events for the women's events, Madonna finished third in the Women's 4 x 400m Relay with a "A" standard time of 4:00.74 minutes.
 
Day Two of running events for the men's side saw Mehdi Hamoud finish third in the Men's One Mile Run with a time of 4:17.87. Jordan Lewis finished second in the Men's 400 Meters with a time of 49.86 seconds. The Men's 60 Meters saw a first and third finish for the Crusaders with Roberts taking first with a time of 6.71 seconds and Kilbert taking third with a time of 6.89 seconds. Men's 200 Meters was conquered by Natanel Dorothea as he took first with a time of 21.07 seconds. Hamoud finished first with Ensaad finishing third in the Men's 3000 Meters as Hamoud finished with a time of 8:44.68 minutes and Ensaad secured a time of 8:47.29 minutes. Madonna Men's Track and Field rounded out day two of running events with Madonna finishing second in the Men's 4 x 400m Relay with an "A" standard time of 3:21.88 minutes.
 
Day two of field events saw the Women's Triple Jump swept by the Crusaders as Madonna finished in spots one through four. Browne took first with a distance of 11.32m, Sanijah Johnson secured second with 10.92m, Myesha Reese took third with 10.79m, and Cianna Brown finished fourth with 10.50m.

UP NEXT:

The Madonna University Indoor Track and Field Program will next compete at the NAIA Nationals starting February 27, 2025 and go through March 1, 2025.
