Crusaders Post Big Numbers at the Michigan Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Madonna University Men's and Women's track team traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan to compete at the Michigan Invitational hosted by Michigan University for their last regular season indoor meet. This meet was a non-team scoring meet but the Crusaders saw excellent performances facing off against division one teams across the BIG 10 and MAC along with some other WHAC opponents. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

On the Men's side, Netanel Dorothea dominated once again in the 400 meter dash. The WHAC athlete of the week finished with a 46.72 which breaks his own record for the fastest 400 meter in school history. His time also clocked in the second fastest time in NAIA history. He also finished almost a full two seconds ahead of the pack and was 0.04 seconds away from breaking the University of Michigan meet record. The Crusaders also saw another first place finisher in Deron Roberts who finished first in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.72 which was .02 seconds away from breaking the Michigan meet record. His time also moved him into a tie for 6th in the NAIA and is the fastest time in the WHAC. Lastly for the men, the 4x400 team of Dorothea, Armon Howard, Marion Johnson, and Jordan Lewis who finished with a 3:15.17 which tied the school record. 

For the women, Charity Jones finished 7th overall but was the 4th fastest time in the nation for the NAIA and has the fastest time in the WHAC with a 55.52. This also qualifies as NAIA A standard. Kiara Carter finished right behind Jones with a time of 56.69 which qualifies her for NAIA B standard. Princess Browne set a personal best in the triple jump finishing 3rd with a jump of 11.96 meters which moves her into 5th overall in the country for the NAIA and also first in the WHAC. Lauren Hamilton also had a big day finishing 5th in the 600 meter with a time of 1:34.25 making her 4th in the country for the NAIA and 1st in the WHAC. 


UP NEXT:

Madonna will now prepare for the WHAC Indoor Championships on February 14th and 15th hosted by Indiana Tech. Action begins at 9:00 AM for both days.
