GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Madonna University Men's and Women's Track and Field team crowned two individuals and two relay teams Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference champions on Sunday afternoon at the Alksnis Athletic & Recreation Building on the campus of Aquinas College (Mich.).

Straight out the gate, junior Steven Anderson crossed the line first in the 60m hurdle finals in 8.11 seconds to win the indoor event for the first time ever securing 10 points for Madonna right off the bat. Following that performance up was junior Cortez Cunningham in the 200m dash where he edged all others in the field, and his heat, in a blazing time of 21.99 seconds.

During the waning final hour of the meet, the women's 4x400m relay team of freshman Nia Wood, senior Mikaela Hille, junior Jayla Brown, and junior Alysa Coleman armored up for a neck-and-neck battle with Indiana Tech heading into the final leg. With Coleman in control of the baton, she passed on the straight away in the final steps to secure the victory in 3:59.76 for Madonna's first 4x400m relay title ever.
