FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Crusaders traveled to Fort Wayne, Ind. for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest against the No. 9 team in the Nation in the Warriors from Indiana Tech University.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was a defensive battle from both sides with neither team being able to take a firm lead. Sharon Woodard and Megan Aho got the scoring started for the Crusaders as they took a 6-2 lead. Indiana Tech battled back with five straight before Kennedy Carrier and Naomi Davis ended the quarter with a 5-0 run.
- The second quarter would see the offense start to warm up as they would go back and forth for the first seven before the Warriors would control the final three. Woodard and Aho scored 14 of the 16 points in the quarter for the Crusaders. Woodard added the first eight of ten points for the Crusaders, while Aho was able to score six of her own points. Davis brought the Crusaders to within one with a jumper at the 1:40, but that would end up being the closest the Crusaders would get for the remainder of the game.
- The Warriors were able to out score the Crusaders 20-9 in the third quarter which saw them end it on a 12-0 run. Paige Boden had six straight points in the quarter for the Crusaders and Davis added a three-point basket.
- Throughout the first six minutes of the final period both teams had scored 11, with Kennedy Carrier scoring six. The final Crusaders points came from Sarah Tanderys and Davis.
TURNING POINT
- A 20-9 third quarter that saw the Warriors shoot the ball at a 42.1% clip as opposed to the Crusaders 26.7%.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Davis notched her first double-double on the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds, with eight offensive and two defensive.
- Emily Pendred recorded her fourth game this season with ten or more rebounds with 13 today.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- 47: The Crusaders were able to out rebound the Warriors 47-41, including 18 total offensive rebounds.
- 23: Madonna's bench was once again able to outscore their opponents, this time 23-5.
- 30: The Blue and Gold were narrowly edged out of points in the paint 32-30.

- The Blue and Gold will return home on Monday February 15 at 5:30 PM to face the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University.
