COVID-19 UPDATE: Madonna suspends campus activities, NAIA cancels spring season, makes eligibility announcement

KANSAS CITY, Mo./LIVONIA, Mich.- National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced today that it is canceling the 2020 spring sports season, effective immediately. 

In addition to canceling the season, the NAIA has announced it will provide relief to all spring student-athletes. Any spring sport student-athlete who was enrolled full-time in 2020 will be awarded two additional semester terms of attendance or the equivalent and they will not be charged a season of competition for this season. 

The NAIA also announced that there will be no national champion named in any winter sports championship that was not completed, but that all results from tournaments that were halted will be counted. All teams that qualified for a canceled national championship will be awarded a championship appearance regardless if they played or not. You can read the full NAIA release here

On Saturday, Madonna University announced that it was suspending all on-campus activities and on-campus work until Monday, March 23, except that of essential personnel and the activities that support the residential students who are unable to return home. The campus moved to on-line delivery of courses today, March 16.
