LIVONIA, Mich. - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) released its baseball preseason poll Tuesday afternoon, and the Madonna University Crusaders baseball team and first-year head coach
Justin Karn was picked to finish third.
The Crusaders, who are coming off of a COVID-19 shortened season, finished the 2019-20 season with a 17-9 record. Madonna finished off the season with a three-game win streak, following wins against Warner University (Fla.), No. 7 Bellevue University (Neb.) and Spring Arbor University (Mich.).
Indiana Tech University opens up the new season as the preseason favorites with 143 points and 11 first-place votes followed by University of Northwestern Ohio with 124 points. Concordia University Ann Arbor comes in at number four with 108 points and a lone first-place vote, with Lawrence Tech University rounding out the top five with 105 points respectively.
Closing out the top ten is Aquinas College (70 points), Lourdes University (69 points), University of Michigan - Dearborn (58 points), Cornerstone (42 points), and Siena Heights (39 points) respectively. Finishing up the poll is Cleary University (Mich.) with 36 points and Rochester University with 25 points
The Crusaders WHAC season opens up on March 20 with a doubleheader against Rochester University with the WHAC tournament-opening up on May 6.
