Women’s Soccer Reserves Run Record to 5-1

Livonia, MI. - The Madonna University Women's Soccer Reserves earned 3 wins and took 1 loss in the last 11 days to run their season record to 5-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Washtenaw Community College - Sep. 14
    • Washtenaw took the early lead off a corner kick until the Sylvia Rios evened the score.
    • Just before halftime, Washtenaw scored again to regain the lead.
    • In the second half, the Crusaders battled back with goals by Gabby Dedvukaj, Natasha Fecay and an assist to Bella Sylvestre to earn the 3-2 victory.
  • Cornerstone University - Sep. 16
    • The Crusaders went on the road to conference foe Cornerstone.
    • Madonna conceded a goal in each half.
    • Despite multiple shots on goal, the loan Crusader goal by Michelle Marzolo would not be enough on this day and MU took the loss by a score of 2-1.
  • Alma College - Sep. 19
    • Once again the Crusaders were on the road, this time to face Division III, Alma College.
    • MU conceded a goal midway through the first half but Erica Padula was able to answer to tie the game.
    • Angela Asante scored the game-winner for Madonna off a pass from Padula in the 89th minute to win the game 2-1.
  • Heidelberg University - Sep. 25
    • On the road again, this time at Heidelberg University in Ohio.
    • The Crusaders took a commanding lead in shots in the first period but entered halftime with only a 1-0 lead on a goal by Alaina Celeski with the assist to Bella Sylvestre.
    • In the second stanza, Madonna would double their lead early with a goal by Natasha Fecay.
    • Goals by Sylvester and Erica Padula would extend the lead in the second half and earn the Crusaders a 4-0 victory.
    • Michelle Marzolo and Rachel Rubio chipped in with an assist apiece.
UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, Sept. 29th at home as they host the WHAC Reserves Tournament.
  • Indiana Tech, Siena Heights, University of Northwestern Ohio, and Aquinas will all be represented.
  • The first match will pit MU vs UNOH at 11:30 am at the M.A.C.
