Box Score UPLAND, Ind. – The Madonna Crusaders Women's Basketball team continued their road trip as they traveled to Taylor University to take on the No. 15 Trojans.  

The Crusaders were strong in the first half but the ranked Trojans were too strong for the Blue and Gold. The Crusaders finished out their fourth game of the season with a loss by the score of 97-57. The Blue and Gold are now 1-3 on the early season. While the Trojans record is now at 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders took the early lead as they led 6-2 after baskets from Sydney Brown, Naomi Davis, and Hannah Reinhold. The game was tied at 10 at the 5:46 mark in the quarter. And the Trojans finished the first period on an 8-4 run. 

The second period is where the turn hit for the Crusaders as the trojans took a 12 point lead in the first five minutes of the second quarter after an 11-1 run. The rest of the second was back and forth as Reinhold and Claire LeRoux were the scorers for the Crusaders. As they were down by 14 going into the half.

The second half was all Trojans due to multiple long runs for them as throughout the game they shot at a 47% clip from the floor including a 50% shooting percentage from three. 

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS:

• Reinhold once again led the Crusaders as she tallied 20 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Also leading the Blue and Gold were Davis with 13 points, four assists, Brown with 10 points and LeRoux with eight points and 5 rebounds

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• 31: The Blue and Gold as a team brought down 31 total rebounds including 9 offensive rebounds and 22 defensive rebounds. The Trojans had 49 rebounds which included 12 offensive and 37 defensive
• 24: The Crusaders scored 24 of their 57 points inside of the paint. While the Trojans had 22 inside the paint
• 34.8: The Blue and Gold shot the ball at a 34.8 % rate throughout the game.

• The Crusaders will begin their 2019 home campaign on Saturday, Nov. 9 when the Saints of Holy Cross College visit with a 1 PM tipoff.
