Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Madonna University women's basketball team was not able to find their first victory on the road as they lost to Siena Heights University by a score of 64-37 at the SHU Fieldhouse on Saturday night. This loss drops the Crusaders to 0-11 and 0-6 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while the Saints improved to 10-2 on the season and 6-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • It was an even first few minutes as a layup by Naomi Davis and a jumper by Claire LeRoux kept the game tied at four, until the Saints went on an 8-0 offensive push. Hannah Reinhold ended the scoring drought, cutting the lead to six points with 1:37 left, although SHU would outscore the Crusaders 8-1 to end the quarter.

  • The lead continued to grow in the second quarter for SHU, getting as high as 21 points but buckets by Lex Davis, Reinhold, and Cierra von Zittwitz kept it relatively close for a halftime score of 32-14 in favor of Siena Heights.

  • The Crusaders second half was much better than the first, nearly doubling their scoring output in the third quarter alone thanks to six points from Sydney Brown and four from Reinhold. The fourth quarter would not serve as enough time for the Blue and Gold to mount a comeback as the Saints held on to preserve a 27 point lead at the final buzzer.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Reinhold posted a team high 10 points in the loss and added two rebounds while Sheldon Bochenek and Brown combined for 12 points and six rebounds.

  • Von Zittwitz tallied 10 rebounds while adding two points to her strong presence around the rim.

  • The Crusaders shot 28.3 percent (15-53) from the field, zero percent (0-11) from three-point range, and 36.8 percent (7-19) from the line. The Saints shot 34.6 percent (18-52) from field goal range, 20 percent (3-15) from beyond the arc, and 75.8 percent (25-33) from the free throw line.

UP NEXT

  • The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 9 as they host NAIA No. 9 Indiana Tech University for a 1:00 p.m. tip off.

  • Live coverage, if available, will be posted at www.mucrusaders.com.
