LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University Women's Soccer Reserves defeated the Indiana Tech Warriors Reserves 7-0 on Wednesday evening at the Madonna Athletic complex to win their third game in a row; all shutouts. Led by the scoring of Melanie Porter, who notched her third straight hat-trick, the three game win streak puts the Crusaders at 6-2 on the season.
HOW THEY HAPPENED
- Indiana Tech: 7-0 Win
- Despite not having Emilohi Izirein in goal, due to a hand injury, the Crusaders earned a shutout. Grace Thomas stepped in, played all 90 minutes and made five saves to earn the shutout.
- The Crusaders dominated play throughout, taking 23 shots with 13 on goal.
- The Crusaders' Alex Sherlock found the net in the 22nd minute to kick of the scoring and then added a second just 6 minutes later.
- Melanie Porter made it 3-0 just before half-time and added two more in the second half to earn the hat-trick. She also recorded an assist.
- Gabby Dedvukaj and Alaina Celeski chipped in with a goal and an assist each while Rachel Rubio assisted on 3 goals.
- Heidelberg: 5-0 Win
- Melanie Porter led the way with 3 goals for the Crusaders.
- Alex Sherlock scored 1 goal and assisted on another. Alaina Celeski scored 1 goal while Grace Thomas earned 2 assists and Gabby Dedvukaj had 1.
- Goalkeeper, Emilohi Izirein made 9 saves in securing the shutout.
- Cornerstone: 7-0 Win
- Melanie Porter earned a hat-trick with 3 goals for the Crusaders.
- Alex Sherlock scored 2 goals, Grace Thomas scored a goal and added an assist, and Silvia Rios scored 1. Rachel Rubio had 2 assists while Claire Konopatzki and Ally Zieleniewski each chipped in an assists.
- Goalkeeper, Emilohi Izirein played all 90 minutes in the shutout.
- Spring Arbor: 0-1 Loss
- Despite a mostly even game, the Crusaders were unable to muster a goal and fell 0-1.
- Goalkeeper, Emilohi Izirein made 5 saves and allowed 1 goal.
- Siena Heights: 2-1 Win
- Gabby Dedvukaj led the way with a goal and an assist.
- Alex Sherlock scored a goal while Grace Thomas and Lauren Chaney recorded assists.
- Goalkeeper, Emilohi Izirein made 6 saves and only allowed 1 goal in the win.
- MSU – Women's Club Soccer: 1-2 Loss
- Silvia Rios scored the lone Crusader goal.
- Emilohi Izirein kept Madonna in the game with 14 saves on the day.
- MSU – Club scored the game winner in the 87th minute to secure the victory.
