LIVONIA, Mich. - A 10-4 run to open the second half and a career best 29 points from Christie Carrico (Waterford, Mich.) sparked the Madonna women's basketball team opened the WHAC season with a 69-60 come-from-behind win over visiting Indiana Tech Saturday (Jan. 5) inside the Activities Center.

The Crusaders moved to 6-9 on the season and open the WHAC at 1-0 - their first 1-0 start since the 2005-06 season - while the Warriors remain winless at 0-16 and 0-1 in conference play.

Tech took a 12 point lead into the halftime break, using 16 first-half points from freshman Faith Johnson to battle back from 11 points down to take the lead at 35-23. The Warriors shot 54 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, including shooting at a 43 percent clip from behind the arc.

Madonna stormed back to open the final 20 minutes of play as Carrico along with senior Caryn Inman (Oxford, Mich.) started the comeback for the Crusaders. Madonna tied the game at 39-all with 13:39 on an Inman jumper from Carrico.

The two sides traded buckets until a Carrico lay-up gave MU the lead for good at 45-43. The Crusaders held off a furious Warrior squad the last 10 minutes for the win.

Carrico led all scorers with her 29 to go along with 10 rebounds, while Inman posted 13 and Tabatha Wydryck (Riverview, Mich.) dropped in 11. Johnson led Tech with 23 in a losing effort.

The Crusaders take to the road and battle 18th-ranked Aquinas in Grand Rapids on Wednesday night. Tip-off at the AQ Field House is set for 7:30pm.
