Box Score SPRING ARBOR, Mich.-- Madonna fell 3-0 to Spring Arbor (MI), 25-22, 25-17, 25-10, on Aug. 19 at the McDonald Athletic Center in Spring Arbor, Michigan. The loss moved Madonna to 2-3, while Spring Arbor improved to 4-1 before a crowd of 200.

Madonna made its strongest push in a competitive opening set. With Rylie Wright serving, the team built a 7-1 advantage during a run that included an ace, then extended the lead to 9-3. Spring Arbor worked back into the set and tied it at 12 before moving ahead 21-19. Kem Donnelly served as consecutive attack errors pulled Madonna even at 21. Vivian Campbell later delivered a kill to save set point at 24-22, but Spring Arbor answered on the next rally to close the set.

Hope Schriber gave Madonna another quick start in the second set, opening with a kill and contributing a solo block on the next point for a 2-0 lead. Donnelly's kill tied the set at 5, but Spring Arbor used a sustained run to establish a 16-10 advantage. Madonna saved two set points late with Madelena Arriaga serving before Spring Arbor completed the 25-17 win.

The home side controlled the start of the third set by scoring the first nine points. Vivian Campbell recorded a kill during Madonna's response, and Donnelly followed with a service ace to make it 17-6. Spring Arbor regained momentum and scored the final five points, finishing the sweep with a 25-10 decision.

Donnelly, Schriber and Sydney Stonerock shared the team lead with five kills apiece. Donnelly also collected 11 digs and an ace, while Schriber supplied Madonna's only block. Vivian Campbell added four kills, and Lexa Forti finished with 11 digs, two assists, one kill and one ace. Madelena Arriaga and Rylie Glass each distributed six assists, while Rylie Wright recorded two of the team's four aces.

The Crusaders will be back in action on Wednesday, September 2nd as they open conference play against Cornerstone University at Mol Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich. The match is set to begin a 7:00 PM.
