FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. –
Game 1:
Madonna softball opened its doubleheader against Lawrence Tech with a strong 6–1 victory Friday afternoon.
The Crusaders wasted no time getting on the board, erupting for four runs in the top of the first inning.
Regan Finkbeiner sparked the rally with a leadoff single before
Ashley Rosiewicz delivered the big swing—a two-run home run to left center. Madonna continued to apply pressure as
Carson Kuhlmann and
Payden Whitmore each drove in runs to give the Crusaders an early 4–0 lead.
Lawrence Tech responded in the second inning with a solo home run, but that would be the only run allowed by Madonna's pitching staff the rest of the way.
Madonna added insurance in the fourth inning, capitalizing on a Lawrence Tech error and timely hitting.
Faith Peschke brought in a run on a misplay, and Rosiewicz added another RBI to extend the lead to 6–1.
At the plate, Rosiewicz led the way with three RBIs, while Finkbeiner and
Rylee Fitzpatrick each recorded two hits. Kuhlmann and Whitmore also contributed RBIs as part of the Crusaders' balanced offensive effort.
In the circle,
Camille Oyer earned the win, improving to 10–0 on the season after allowing just one run on four hits over five innings.
Anna Battagin was dominant in relief, tossing two scoreless innings and striking out three to close out the game.
Madonna's defense was sharp throughout, committing no errors and helping secure the game one victory.
With the win, the Crusaders improved to 28–2 on the season and set the tone for the remainder of the doubleheader.
Game 2:
Madonna softball completed the doubleheader sweep of Lawrence Tech with a 10–4 victory in game two Friday evening.
After a scoreless first two innings, the Crusaders broke through in the third with a four-run frame. Taking advantage of a defensive miscue, Ashley Rosiewicz and Brynn Anteau each drove in runs before Faith Cramton delivered the biggest swing of the inning with a two-run home run to give Madonna a 4–0 lead.
Lawrence Tech responded with two runs in the bottom of the third and added two more in the fourth to cut the deficit to 5–4, but the Crusaders answered immediately.
Madonna extended its lead in the fifth inning as Rosiewicz drove in a run with a double before Cramton launched her second home run of the game, a two-run shot that pushed the lead to 8–4.
The Crusaders continued to add on late, as Rosiewicz hit a solo home run in the sixth and Rylee Fitzpatrick delivered an RBI single in the seventh to cap the scoring at 10–4.
Rosiewicz led the offense with two hits, including a home run and a double, while driving in three runs and scoring three times. Cramton had a huge day at the plate with two home runs and four RBIs, and Fitzpatrick added two hits and an RBI. Payden Whitmore also contributed with a solo home run as part of Madonna's 10-hit performance.
In the circle, Laci Harris earned the win after allowing two runs over 2.2 innings. Sara Austin provided key middle relief, and Anna Battagin closed out the game to secure the victory.
With the win, Madonna improved to 29–2 on the season, completing a dominant doubleheader sweep behind a powerful offensive showing.
