Game 1:
Livonia, Mich. – Madonna softball used timely hitting and a strong performance in the circle to defeat the University of Michigan-Dearborn 6–3 in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader at University Field.
Michigan-Dearborn struck first in the opening inning, but the Crusaders answered immediately in the bottom half. After putting runners on base,
Carson Kulhmann delivered the big hit of the inning with a three-run double to give Madonna a 3–1 lead.
The Wolverines chipped away with runs in the third and fifth innings, eventually tying the game at 3–3. Madonna responded once again in the bottom of the fifth with another key offensive surge.
Regan Finkbeiner sparked the rally with a bunt single before
Ashley Rosiewicz drove her in with an RBI triple.
Brynn Anteau followed with an RBI single, and
Rylee Fitzpatrick added another run-scoring hit to push the Crusaders ahead 6–3.
Madonna finished with 10 hits in the contest, with multiple players contributing throughout the lineup. Rosiewicz led the way with two hits, including a triple, while Anteau added two hits and an RBI. Kulhmann drove in three runs, and Fitzpatrick contributed an RBI as part of the fifth-inning rally.
In the circle,
Camille Oyer earned the win after throwing four innings and allowing just two runs, one earned.
Anna Battagin came on in relief and closed out the final three innings, allowing one run while helping secure the victory.
With the win, the Crusaders took the opening game of the doubleheader, using clutch hitting and solid pitching to hold off UM-Dearborn.
Game 2:
Madonna softball secured the doubleheader sweep over the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a 6–3 victory in game two on Wednesday afternoon at University Field.
Much like game one, Michigan-Dearborn struck first in the opening inning, but the Crusaders answered immediately. After putting runners in scoring position, Carson Kulhmann came through with a clutch three-run double to give Madonna a 3–1 lead.
The Wolverines continued to battle back, adding runs in the third and fifth innings to even the score at 3–3. Madonna once again responded in the bottom of the fifth with a decisive rally.
