4/7/2025 1:54:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ADRIAN, Mich. – The Madonna University baseball team (19-18, 9-7 WHAC) split with Siena Heights on Sunday afternoon. The Crusaders would take care of business in game one defeating the Saints 11-7 in seven innings. In a complete opposite outcome of game two, Siena Heights would flip the script defeating the Crusaders in a 12-2 run mercy in seven innings.

GAME 1

Siena Heights jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Two sacrifice flies from the Saints brought across two runs. However, Madonna responded in the second inning when A. Shipman scored on a double play to cut the lead to 2-1.
In the third inning, Madonna erupted for three runs. Johnny Stepek delivered an RBI single, and the Crusaders added two more in the fourth with a series of timely hits, including a two RBI double from Andrew Thorning. By the fifth inning, Madonna had built a commanding 11-5 lead.
Siena Heights attempted a late comeback with two runs in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to overcome Madonna's early onslaught. The Crusaders' pitching staff, despite allowing seven runs, held strong when it mattered most.
Madonna's offense was led by Thorning and J. Stepek, who each contributed key hits to the team's run production. Despite the loss, Siena Heights saw strong performances from C. Gomes and J. Semler, but the Crusaders' consistency at the plate proved too much to handle.
Madonna's 11-7 win was a testament to their ability to rebound from early adversity and capitalize on every opportunity. With solid performances from both the offense and defense, the Crusaders will look to build momentum in their next series.

GAME 2
Game two was a complete opposite story to game one with Siena Heights emerging victorious 12-2
Siena Heights wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard in the first inning. The team scored four runs in the opening frame, starting with an RBI single. Following a couple more singles, the Saints plated another run with an RBI hit, pushing the lead to 4-0. A double play kept the inning from being worse, but Madonna was already on its heels.
Siena Heights continued to pile on the runs throughout the game. In the second inning, they scored two more runs, with two sacrifice flies. They added additional runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.
Madonna struggled to get their offense going. Their lone runs came in the second inning, where they managed to score two runs off of some timely hits, but they were quickly stifled by Siena Heights' pitching and defense.
The game ended after seven innings with Siena Heights taking a commanding 12-2 victory..
