Crusaders Take Down St. Ambrose to Extend Winning Streak

DAVENPORT, Iowa. – The Madonna University Men's Lacrosse team continued their 2025 season by starting their two-game road-trip in Iowa. The Crusaders faced RV St. Ambrose University in game 1-of-2 in Iowa. Madonna would continue their winning and extend their win-streak to two games with a 13-to-7 win over the Fighting Bees.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Madonna would kick off the game early with an opening goal from Carter Borsos to give the Crusaders a 1-to-0 lead. The game would remain back and forth with Madonna holding the slight lead until late in the third quarter when Madonna would go up by three goals and ultimately hold that lead until the final buzzer ending with a plus-six goal differential win.

The biggest offensive threats for Madonna would Dylan Hicks, Benjamin Reidy, and Nick Bryden who all had multiple-goal games. Hicks finished with an impressive four goals, Reidy with three goals, and Bryden with two goals. In Reidy's recent performances against #2 Weber International University (Fla.) and #5 William Penn University (Iowa) he earned the WHAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week (2/24). Reidy is already showing why is deserving of a second nomination with Dylan Hicks being in contention as well after the win over St. Ambrose.

Additionally, Madonna's ability to get better defensively as the game goes on is only going to be a problem for opponents moving forward. St. Ambrose gradually declined in shots as the game went on as they had 11 shots in the first, ten shots in the second, seven shots in the third, and only five shots in the fourth. DeMario Williams completed the sweep in WHAC Player of the Week awards for Madonna as Williams was awarded WHAC Defensive Player of the Week for his lockdown performance against both #2 Weber International and #5 William Penn.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Madonna would out-shoot St. Ambrose 40-to-33.
  • Crusaders dominated the face-off circle by beating the Fighting Bees 15-to-8 on draws.
  • Madonna capitalized on 3-of-4 extra man opportunities.
