GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Crusaders visited the Aquinas Saints for a Wednesday night WHAC match up. Ultimately, the Crusaders would fall short to the Saints 60-66 moving to 11-6 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Crusaders started the game strong by outscoring the Saints 17-10 in the first quarter.
Marcela Rodriguez would lead in the scoring category by notching 12 points and six rebounds. Dakota Smith and
Faith Jungwirth showed up big on defense to keep the Crusaders within reach. Smith had ten points and put up three steals with five rebounds. Jungwirth also put up ten points with one steal, two blocks, and five rebounds.
Aquinas would have four players of their own as well to finish with double-digit points. Claire Gregwer would shine for Aquinas by putting up 21 points and 15 rebounds in the 40 minutes she played. Ashlyn Wilkes notched 11 points and six rebounds and went 4-for-7 from the field.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Marcela Rodriguez finished with 12 points, six rebounds, and one steal
- The Crusaders shot 72.7% from the free-throw line.
- The Crusaders generated 17 points from the bench.
