LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University Women's Basketball team (11-7, 4-6 WHAC) hosted No. 23 Indiana Tech (12-4, 7-1 WHAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders fell to the Warriors 64-51.    

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders came out looking to get a big conference win against a top 25 team. The shooting struggles continued for the Crusaders despite hanging around throughout the first half. In the first quarter, the Crusaders were back and forth with the Crusaders having the biggest lead of the quarter at four. The first quarter ended with the game tied at 14. The second quarter was controlled by the Warriors until the final minute where the Crusaders cut a 10 point Warrior lead to 6 going into halftime down 32-26. 

The third quarter is where the Crusaders struggled putting the ball in the basket getting outscored 19-7 falling down 18 to end the third quarter. The Crusaders started the fourth quarter strong with a 10-0 run to take the Warrior lead down to 8 giving them a chance to make the comeback. Despite the push the Warriors were able to answer and the lead ballooned back to 16 with 2:30 left. Despite the Crusaders best efforts they were unable to complete the comeback and fell to the Warriors 64-51.   

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Keairra Jennings led the team with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. 
• Faith Jungwirth finished with 8 points and 7 rebounds.
• Ashley Kopacko finished with 9 points on 3-4 shooting from the three.
• Chenelle King finished with 8 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Madonna's next matchup will be back at home on Wednesday, January 15th as they take on Cleary University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
