LIVONIA, Mich. – The Crusaders welcomed the Indiana Tech Warriors to town on a cold Saturday afternoon. Madonna was coming off a tough loss on the road to Aquinas and had a quick turnaround with the 11-4 and undefeated in WHAC play Warriors. The Crusaders realized the stake of this game and took care of business by matching the Warrior's energy and pulling out a close 79-to-77 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Crusaders realized the game at stake and came to play. Seniors
Brendan Young and
Ethan Emerzian both put their skills on full display.
Brendan Young shot 9-for-16 from the field, 3-for-7 from beyond the arc. Young finished with a double-double by notching 22 points and 11 rebounds. Additionally, Brendan made history in today's game by passing Mark Mettie in all-time rebounds with an astonishing 973 rebounds in his career.
Moving forward,
Ethan Emerzian powered the Crusaders in the first half with 14 points.
Ethan Emerzian continued his dominant performance by finishing 8-for-13 from the field, 2-for-5 from three, and went 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Emerzian put up 22 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Isaac Anderson,
Matthew MacLellan, and
Josh Waun both added scoring support to help the Crusaders push past the Warriors. Anderson finished with a double-double as well with 14 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. MacLellan closed out the night with 11 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Lastly,
Josh Waun decided to have some fun too by knocking down two big threes and putting up seven points and four rebounds.
Indiana Tech's, Crew Gibson had an impressive night as well by going 10-for-15 from the field and 4-for-7 from three. Gibson finished with 27 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and each one block and steal. Brady Titus and Blake Davison also helped the Warriors keep it close with Titus putting up 13 points and four assists while Davison had 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Brendan Young takes top spot for all-time rebounds in men's basketball program.
- The Crusaders out-scored the Warriors on second chance points 16-to-2.
- Madonna capitalized on turnovers by scoring 13 points compared to Indiana Tech's eight points.
