LIVONIA, Mich. -- A five set thrilling volleyball match was played inside Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena on Wednesday night between Madonna and Lawrence Tech. The visiting Blue Devils escaped with the 3-2 conference victory over the Crusaders, moving to 7-5 overall and 5-1 in the WHAC. Madonna fell to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play following the defeat.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
It was the Blue Devils who would open the first set up with the lead. While the Crusaders fought back quickly and overtook the Blue Devils for some time, their efforts would fall short as they would lose the start of the match with a 25-13 loss. The second set proved to be a crucial step in a comeback for the Crusaders. With everything on the line, it was Madonna who would overtake the Lawrence Tech with speed and persistence, coming back and reclaiming a 25-14 win in the second. Katie Mulka in the third set would be crucial for the Crusaders making the match 2-1 in favor of Madonna headed into the fourth set.
he last two sets were an all-out affair for the two strong teams. Ultimately, it was the Blue Devils who took the fourth and fifth sets to clain the 3-2 vcitory and Madonna would drop their WHAC contest.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Paige Caradonna led the Crusaders in kills with 15
- Mulka had her best game of the season, recording 13 kills, recorded a .440 hitting percentage, and also had four total blocks on the day
- Karlee Stoll finished with 50 assists on the day and led the team in digs with 14

Madonna Volleyball will be back in action on Saturday, September 28 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan to take on the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University. Game time is set for 2:00 pm
