GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Crusaders continued Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play as they ventured to the west side of the state to face the Cornerstone University Golden Eagles. While Madonna seemed to have a chance in all three sets, they were unable to keep up with the high-powered Golden Eagles, who would go on to sweep them 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Crusaders would seemingly control the start of the first set, starting 3-0. After the first few points, the Golden Eagles would tighten up and keep it close, eventually tied at 10-10. After making it to double-digits, the Golden Eagles would begin to pull away from the Crusaders. Keeping them at bay, the Golden Eagles would take the first set 25-19.
The second set was a much similar story. The Golden Eagles scored first but Madonna managed to stay in control for the first ten points of the set. However, after being up 11-9, the Crusaders would give up a run to the Golden Eagles, eventually losing the set again 25-19.
In the third set, the Golden Eagles would dominate early, getting ahead 20-12. However, the Crusaders wouldn't give up easily, fighting back to make it a close game. In the end, the couldn't hold off the Golden Eagles forever, who would win the set 25-19 once again and go on to sweep the Crusaders 3-0.
