Box Score LIVONIA, Mich. - In a game that was initially scheduled for this past Saturday, weather delays would postpone the matchup between the Madonna Crusaders (17-18, 12-7) and the Rochester Christian Warriors (9-29, 1-19) to this Monday. After a slow start to game one, the Crusaders would pick up the pace in the fourth inning, going on to mercy the Warriors 20-4. They would go on to get the sweep as they edged out the Warriors 13-8 in game two, moving to 14-7 in the conference.

GAME ONE:

The Crusaders got off to a 2-0 start with Kyle Revere accounting for both scores; a run in the first inning and a sacrifice RBI in the second. From there, the offense would stall out as the Warriors would catch up, taking a 4-2 lead over the Crusaders after the top of the fourth.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Crusaders would snap out of their rut and rally with an offensive explosion. Anthony Sharkas got them going with a two-run home run to tie the game at four each. Following him up was Avain Rivera, who hit a three-run homer of his own, as the Crusaders would jump ahead 8-4 after four innings.

A 10-run fifth inning for the Crusaders would put them up 18-4 and the Warriors at risk of the game ending in a mercy. Rivera would contribute three of the ten runs with his second three-run home run of the game. The Crusaders would add on two more runs in the sixth inning, while Crusader pitcher Dustin Cummings would hold the Warriors scoreless in the final innings. After seven innings, the mercy rule would go into effect as the Crusaders took a 20-4 win in game one.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Rivera went 3-of-4 with two home runs and six RBIs.
  • Sharkas hit one home run and brought in five RBIs.
  • Revere went 3-of-4 with three runs and two RBIs.
GAME TWO:

Much like game one, the Warriors would get the jump on the Crusaders, leading 4-2 after three-and-a-half innings of play. The Crusaders would answer in the bottom of the fourth, with a two-RBI double from Nick Krol to tie the game at 4-4.

The Crusaders would jump ahead with an explosive fifth inning, scoring seven runs and capped off by a home run from Revere. After five innings, the Crusaders jumped ahead 11-4.

With a sixth-inning rally, the Warriors would try to force a late game comeback, but it would not be enough as the Crusaders would go on to get the game two win and the sweep 13-8.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Revere went 3-of-6 with two runs, six RBIs and a home run.
  • Krol went 3-of-5 with four RBIs and one run.
