Robinson drops 20 points against the Warriors

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - The Madonna Crusaders (9-13, 5-11) headed north to take on the Rochester University Warriors (12-10, 9-7) in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference showdown at Garth Pleasant Arena. The Crusaders would be led by sophomore guard Delani Robinson who scored 20 points for the second time this season, while also tying the record for third-most made-threes in a game in school history with six and shooting sixty-percent from behind the arc. Despite Robinson's offensive explosive, it would not be enough to overcome the Warriors who would take 74-62.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders came out shooting as they jumped ahead with an early lead in the opening minutes of the game. Aaliyah McQueen scored the first points with a driving layup, then followed it up with a shot from behind the arc. Then it was freshman guard Ashley Kopacko who took it down the court for a fast break layup as the Crusaders started off up 7-0.

After this, the Warriors would start to find their rhythm but the Crusaders would still hold onto the lead for a majority of the first quarter of action. The Warriors would tie them up at 13 with just over two minutes remaining in the period, and would eventually overtake them in the final seconds. The Warriors led 18-13 after one quarter.

The Warriors continued to grow their lead in the second quarter as they began to pull away. However, the Crusaders remained steadfast on their heels. With just over two minutes remaining in the first half, Delani Robinson would see her name on the statsheet for the first time as she drained her first three of the game. Before intermission, she would follow it up with another deep-three to put the pressure on the Warriors before the break. The Warriors led 31-26 at the end of the first half.

Robinson stayed hot in the second half, draining threes on back-to-back possessions in the third quarter to start a Crusader rally. Keiarra Jennings added eight points of her own during the third period to put the game back in reach going into the final ten minutes. Crusaders trailed by two after three, 50-48.

Robinson opened up the final period with another three pointer, her fifth of the night. However, just as the Crusaders seemed to have some fire, the Warriors got hot too. They would go on to pull away in the final minutes of the game. However, the Crusaders didn't fold. Robinson would score her sixth three-pointer of the game with just over a minute left to play. With that basket, Robinson became tied for the third-most made-threes in a game in school history. Despite her best efforts, it was not enough to pull out a Crusader victory. Warriors would take the win 74-62.
