Crusaders hang with Golden Eagles

LIVONIA, Mich. - Returning to ACCU Arena for their first home Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference game of the season, the Madonna Crusaders (5-1, 0-1) took on the Cornerstone University Golden Eagles (2-5, 1-0). After a big first half, the Crusaders would be leading the Golden Eagles at halftime. However, a big second half allowed them to come back and win 71-59.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Golden Eagles started hot with a 11-2 lead just four minutes into the contest. However, the Crusaders would go on a run of their own to end the first quarter. With three big three-pointers in a row from Marcela Rodriguez, Delani Robinson, and Elena DiMaria to end the quarter, Crusaders led 19-17 after one.

In the second half, the Crusaders would stay consistent with their shooting and remain in the lead going into halftime 33-31.

After the halftime break, the Golden Eagles would come out on fire. In the second half, they would shoot lights out to steal the game back from the Crusaders. The Golden Eagles would go on to win 71-59.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • DiMaria led team with 14 points.
  • Rodriguez scored 11 points and was 3-of-4 from three.

The Crusaders will look to pick up their first conference win when they return to ACCU Arena on Tuesday, November 26 to take on the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers at 5:30 pm.
