LIVONIA, Mich. - After clinching a bid to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament with a win over Michigan-Dearborn last week, the Crusaders hosted the Defiance College Yellow Jackets in a win-or-go-home game. While the Yellow Jackets would steal a set and avoid the sweep, the Crusaders would close them out in four sets to keep their season alive in the WHAC Tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Madonna would open things up with a 11-5 lead in the first set, forcing the Yellow Jackets to call timeout. Coming out of the break, the Yellow Jackets would make the set competitive, but the Crusaders would steadily hold onto their lead, taking the set 25-18.
In the second set, it was Defiance who would pull ahead late to steal the set 25-22.
After losing the second set, the Crusaders came out in the third set and dominated, imposing their will on the Yellow Jackets with a 25-15 win.
In the final set, it would all come down to the wire. The Crusaders and Yellow Jackets would remain neck-and-neck until the game's final points. In the end, it was
Paige Caradonna who would get the final kill, keeping the Crusaders dancing with a 26-24 win.
