FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- In a pivotal WHAC Tournament Semifinals encounter, the Madonna University Crusaders were defeated by the Indiana Tech Warriors with a final score of 1-3. The match, which took place on November 13, 2024, in Fort Wayne, Ind., saw the Crusaders struggle against a formidable opponent.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first set began challenging for the Crusaders, with Indiana Tech taking an early lead and ultimately winning the set by a substantial margin of 14-25. However, Madonna bounced back in the second set, with dynamic plays leading to a 25-21 victory, momentarily leveling the playing field.
As the match progressed to the third and fourth sets, the Crusaders faced heightened pressure. Despite a series of ties and hard-fought rallies, they fell short in both sets, scoring 20-25 and 18-25, respectively, thereby sealing their fate in the semifinals.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Hannah Keenan led the Crusaders with 10 kills
- Kira Buza provided seven kills and also dominated on defense with six blocks
- Karlee Stoll making significant contributions with 21 digs and coordinating the team's offense with 28 assists
- Lexa Forti showcased her skills by delivering 3 aces and 9 digs.
