No. 23 Crusaders survive scare from LTU

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The now ranked 23rd Madonna University Men's Soccer team (7-1-2, 4-0) defeated Lawrence Tech University (3-4-2, 1-0-2) on Wednesday night. After a scoreless first half the Crusaders were able to take care of the Cougars with a final score of 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In the first half, it was the Blue Devils who would strike first against the newly nationally ranked No.23 Crusaders in the 15th minute of the first half to make it a 1-0 game. Then the Crusaders would answer with two of their own first in the 32nd minute off a beautiful cross pass from Jordy Lopez to Bernardo Teston to tie the game up at 1-1. The Crusaders second first half goal came right before halftime in the 43rd minute this time off the foot of Lopez assisted by Hassan Alatooli and Ren Suzuki. This brought the game to 2-1 heading into halftime.

The second half looked like it was going to be all Crusaders until after the midway point. The Crusaders opened up the second half with an early goal starting in the 50th minute with a goal by Ryota Nakajima to make it a 3-1 game. Then just around five minutes later in the 56th minute it was the Crusaders again with a goal from Ryushin Hirami to make it a 4-1 game and seemingly out of reach for the Blue Devils. Then after a red card from the Crusaders in the 65th minute just two minutes later it was the Blue Devils who would score to make it a 4-2 game. Then five minutes later in the 72nd minute it was the Blue Devils again to make it a 4-3 game and putting the Crusaders in a very interesting position. The Crusaders would play a defensive game to the end but despite the scare it was the Crusaders who would come out on top with a 4-3 victory.
