LIVONIA, Mich. –  The Madonna University women's volleyball team won their third game in a row and moved to 5-1 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) with a 3-1 victory over Lourdes University (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders carried the momentum over from last night's win over and overpowered the Gray Wolves in the first and second set, 25-19 and 25-21 respectively.  

With their backs against the wall, the Grey Wolves fought hard and secured a 16-12 lead over the Crusaders. Madonna found themselves trailing 17-13 but went on a 4-0 run thanks to two Jaeda Porter kills and two errors from Lourdes to knot things up at 17-17. Madonna trailed 22-20 down the stretch, but Lourdes shot themselves in the with three errors and the Crusaders prevailed victorious with a 3-0 sweep over the Grey Wolves.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Porter, Kira Buza, and Hope Schriber lead the Crusaders with seven kills each
• Kacie Stoneburner and Karlee Stoll recorded 17 and 14 assists respectively 
• Khloee Stoll recorded 20 digs on the day
• The Crusaders currently sit tied for second place in the WHAC with a 5-1 record. 

UP NEXT

The Crusaders will return to action Wednesday, September 27, at 7:00 p.m. when they hit the road to take on the Cardinals for Concordia University of Ann Arbor.
