LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Madonna University men's soccer team hosted Goshen College (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon from the Madonna Athletic Complex. The Crusaders came away with the victory over the Maple Leafs, scoring a goal each half to secure the 2-1 win.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game began with each team going back and forth holding control of the ball. The Crusaders had a few good looks at the net when finally Fletcher Van Howe broke the tie with a beautiful flick shot over the goalies head in the 34th minute to make it 1-0 Crusaders going into halftime. The Crusaders would then strike quickly in the second half after a foul in the box by the Maple Leafs allowing Daniel Watkins to score on a penalty kick three minutes into the half to make it 2-0. The Maple Leafs would score their first goal in the 85th minute to make it 2-1 but it would not be enough to take the Crusaders as they came away with the 2-1 victory. Â
