LEBANON, Tenn. - After suffering two tough losses in their first day of game play at the Phoenix Classic on Friday, August 25th, the Madonna University Volleyball team scored big against Fisk University (Tenn.), taking the game with an astonishing 3-0 sweep. Later in the day, the Crusaders would take on William Carey University (Miss.), concluding their second day of tournament play with another win to end the two-day competition with a 2-2 record.
GAME 1
At the start of the first game of the day, the Bulldogs proved to be a big threat to the Crusaders, taking the lead in just the first few minutes of game play. However, this proved to be an easy challenge for Madonna to take on. Playing on several errors made by the Bulldogs, the Crusaders would eventually catch up to their opponent. After a hard fought first set with the Bulldogs not tailing too far behind, Madonna would eventually capture victory with a 25-19 win. The rest of the match proved to be much of an easier affair for the Crusaders Volleyball team, taking a bigger lead in the second set before the Bulldogs started to close in. However, with another round of mistakes on the behalf of Fisk, Madonna would win with the same 25-19 score from the first. The third set was a breeze, with the Crusaders establishing themselves as a dominant force before ending game play with a 25-14 win in the last part of the game.
