DEARBORN, Mich. –  The Madonna University women's basketball program went on the road and took down the Wolverines of Michigan-Dearborn, 84-71. This is the Crusaders' second win in a row as their record moved to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Similar to Wednesday night's game, the Crusaders took an early lead as they were up 8-3 in the first two minutes of the game. However, the Wolverines would battle back and both teams would be tied 21-21 at the end of the first. Both teams traded baskets to start the second, but at 4:52 left in the half, a Keairra Jennings jumper would spark a 7-0 run for the Crusaders to take a 35-28 lead. Both teams went scoreless for the next three minutes but once again, the Wolverines battled back and closed the half on an 8-0 run and Madonna trailed 36-35 at the half. 

The third quarter saw the Wolverines outscore Madonna 15-14, and headed into the fourth quarter with a two-point advantage. Ashley Hill got the scoring going in the fourth with an offensive rebound put-back to tie things up at 51-51. Dearborn would get a layup to go on their possession to take the lead back, however, an Aliyah McQueen three-pointer would secure the lead for Madonna and the Crusaders wouldn't look back and secured the 84-71 victory.        

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• McQueen dominated once again, finishing with 28 points, eight rebounds and seven steals
• Kayiona Willis provided 18 points and eight rebounds for Madonna
• Jennings fouled out early in the fourth quarter but still finished with 13 points

The Crusaders will return to action next Saturday, December 9, at 1:00 p.m. when they host the Saints of Siena Heights University (Mich.)
