Crusaders fall to Trailblazers on the road

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - Coming off of their dominant 72-58 win over the University of Northwestern Ohio, the Madonna University Crusaders (5-4, 3-3) headed south of the state border to face the Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University (7-3, 0-2). Despite the Crusaders having three players with double-digit points on the night, it was not enough to close out the Trailblazers. The Crusaders would fall to 5-5 following the 83-65 road loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Trailblazers got off to a hot start, taking a 24-14 lead over the Crusaders after the first quarter. The Crusaders would climb back as they outscored the Trailblazers in the second quarter. Dekota Smith and Kayiona Willis would lead the way with six points each in that quarter alone. Despite this rally, the Crusaders would still find themselves down 39-33 going into the break.

Smith would stay hot coming out of halftime, tacking on another six points in the third quarter. Even with her best efforts, she was unable to lead the Crusaders to a late-game comeback. The Trailblazers would go on to take an 83-65 win over the Crusaders.
