Hamoud earns WHAC Newcomer of the Year honors, Crusaders race at WHAC Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Madonna University cross country competed at the WHAC Championship Meet on Friday from Riverside Park. The men finished third out of 11 schools, while the women were fifth out of 10 schools. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Madonna was led by Mehdi Hamoud in second place individually with an 8k time of 25:27.8, earning First Team All-WHAC honors and being named WHAC Newcomer of the Year. Also in the top five for the Crusaders was Mohamed Ensaad in fourth place with a time of 25:33.7, earning First Team All-WHAC honors. Cameron Kruse was next to finish for Madonna, running 26:58.0. In 40th place was Lucas Eccelton in 27:25.8, while Ryan Nicholson closed the scoring in 42nd place with a time of 27:31.0. 

For the women, Lauren Hamilton finished 20th with a 6k time of 24:27.7. Next to cross the line was Rose Paoletti in 24th place with a time of 24:35.1. Finishing 26th was Jessica Phillips with a time of 24:37.1, while Alexis Spitzley placed 34th in 25:12.0. Closing the scoring for the Crusaders was Izzie Lashaway in 42nd place, crossing the line in 25:24.4.

Madonna will find out if any individuals are selected for the NAIA National Championships on November 17th in Vancouver, Washington.
