LIVONIA, Mich. - Madonna University Men's Soccer won a thriller Saturday afternoon against Lawrence Tech in the WHAC tournament quarter final. The Crusaders would go on to win 2-1 in dramatic fashion scoring with only 17 seconds left to head to the semi-finals against Indiana Tech on November 8th.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders would face off with Lawrence Tech again today after meeting just a week ago that ended in a 1-1 tie. The Crusaders would come out aggressive to start this game as they would score the first goal just five minutes into the game off the foot of Yan Brun after drawing a penalty in the box allowing for a penalty kick. It wouldn't be long before Lawrence Tech answered with a goal in the 19th minute which would send us into halftime with a 1-1 tie. 

The second half was beginning to look like last week's matchup as neither team was giving an inch and possession was even through most of the half. Just as things were looking to end in another 1-1 tie and take us to overtime, the Crusaders finally found an answer. With only 17 seconds on the clock the ball was centered and bounced around until Brun found the ball at his feet and was able to put it in the back of the net with just 17 seconds left to give the Crusaders a 2-1 victory and to advance to the WHAC tournament semifinals. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• Madonna out shot Lawrence Tech 19-14 with 11 Crusaders shots being on net compared to just 4 for the Blue Devils. 
• Brun's goals were his sixth and seventh of the season. 
• Kieran Malachino made nine  saves for the Blue Devils. 

UP NEXT:

The Crusaders advance to the WHAC tournament semifinals and will travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. to face off against Indiana Tech on Wednesday, November 8th. Kick-off is to be determined.
