LIVONIA, Mich. - Madonna women's basketball took down Rochester University 74-65 on Wednesday night inside Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena. The win improves the Crusaders' record to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in WHAC play, while Rochester drops to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in conference. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Madonna began the game on a 9-0 run, however Rochester quickly responded and ended the first quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 15-14 lead. The two sides continued to trade baskets in the second period with the Crusaders taking a 33-32 lead into the halftime break. Kayiona Willis led Madonna offensively at the half with 13 points, while the Warriors were led by Melanie Moore with seven points. 

The third quarter saw Madonna outscore Rochester 21-15 and hold a seven-point advantage heading to the fourth. The Crusaders maintained their lead in the fourth period and stayed in front the rest of the contest, hitting clutch baskets down the stretch to come away victorious. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 
 

• Aaliyah McQueen led the Crusaders with a double-double, finishing with 22 points and 14 rebounds. 
• Willis ended her night with 18 points, while Keairra Jennings posted 14 of her own. 
• As a team, Madonna was 26-of-74 from the field, while Rochester was 20-of-49. 
• Leading the Warriors was Jacey Somers with 16 points.
